My interests focus on Modern Foreign Language teaching and teacher education.

Before joining the Sheffield Institute of Education, I taught English as a foreign language to students of a variety of ages and backgrounds in English language schools in the UK. I then worked in Secondary MFL education and taught in varied school contexts in both Chesterfield and Sheffield. My language specialisms are Spanish, English as a foreign language, Italian, French. I also gained expertise in working with EAL pupils while working as an EAL coordinator in a school in Sheffield. During my years in secondary school, I was deputy director of the MFL department, EAL coordinator, ESOL lead, and I worked closely with student teachers as a mentor.

I am currently the course leader for the Secondary MFL PGCE programme at the Sheffield Institute of Education. I contribute to the general education elements of the secondary PGCE programme, delivering lectures and developing materials for ITTs across all subject areas. I also work within primary teacher education as a subject specialist tutor, and I am a part-time doctoral student.
