ABOUt

I am a Chartered Quantity Surveyor (MRICS) and HEA Senior Fellow (SFHEA) with over 15 years’ academic and industry experience across the UK, Asia, and Africa. I hold a PhD in Quantity Surveying, an MSc in Construction Management, and a BTech in Quantity Surveying. Formerly Head of Built Environment section at the University of Reading, I now lead the MSc Quantity Surveying programme at Sheffield Hallam University. I teach across undergraduate, apprenticeship, and postgraduate levels. My research focuses on BIM for sustainable design, energy efficiency, and smart cost management.

My professional journey began as a graduate Quantity Surveyor with Peak Quantity Surveyors, where I gained foundational experience across a variety of building and civil engineering projects. This early exposure laid the groundwork for subsequent international roles, broadening my perspective and expertise.

I currently serve as a Senior Lecturer and Postgraduate Course Leader in Quantity Surveying at Sheffield Hallam University, specialising in measurement, cost management, digital construction, and sustainable building practices. Previously, I was Head of Built Environment at the University of Reading Malaysia, where I led academic programmes and fostered strong industry partnerships.

I have been the recipient of several international scholarships and accolades, notably the 2021 Collaborative Teaching Award from the University of Reading. My research focuses on Building Information Modelling (BIM) for sustainable design, energy-efficient construction, and smart cost management, aligning with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs 7, 9, and 11). I have published extensively in Scopus and ISI-indexed journals, authored book chapters, and presented at international conferences.

During my tenure as Head of Built Environment, I established an International Industry Advisory Board to ensure alignment between academic delivery and evolving industry needs. I continue to maintain strong professional connections through roles as an external examiner, accreditation panel member, editorial contributor, and invited speaker. I am deeply committed to integrating real-world practice into construction education.
