I am a PhD student supervised by Dr. Stephen Connolly & Dr. Paul Stokes at Sheffield Hallam University. I am also an autism & ADHD specialist psychotherapist.

My autistic-led, grounded theory research centres around how autistic adults describe, explain and theorise about their relationships with leaders, managers and supervisors in the workplace. I am especially interested in the utility (or not) of leadership theory and in-group membership, together with how feedback is experienced and how such experiences are protective against, or predictive of burnout. This follows on from a smaller piece of research carried out whilst completing an Autism Spectrum MSc at Sheffield Hallam that concerned autistic occupational burnout.

Alongside my research, I work in private practice, as a counsellor and psychotherapist. My career as a therapist began some 20 plus years ago, after initially working in inpatient settings as a mature Psychology undergraduate and then training as a Transactional Analysis counsellor. I spent several years moving around the country, working at and managing projects for mental health charities, before further training as an integrative psychotherapist. I have worked exclusively with autistic and ADHD young people and adults for a number of years now.
