ABOUt

I have been a researcher at Sheffield Hallam University since 2008 and have a wealth of interdisciplinary research experience, including commercial consultancy.

I am currently working on an AHRC funded project (2024 - 2027) which aims to explore a Creative health Board Model for embedding creative health and community assets in health systems across the UK. As well as acting as ethics lead, I am also co-leading the digital theme within the Centre for Collaboration in Community Connectedness (C4) which is an ESRC funded project running from 2024-2029.

I previously worked on an EU (Horizon 2020) project 'CultureLabs' (2018-2021) which sought to develop a digital platform to support heritage institutions such as libraries, museums and theatres who wish to work with communities from immigrant, refugees or migrant backgrounds in order to share cultural heritage and understanding, through co-design.

I have also been a co-investigator on a Nuffield funded project entitled 'My big data and me' (2019-2021 in association with the University of Liverpool and Glasgow University) which sought to understand the levels of and variations in UK citizens data literacy, and to develop policy and educational materials to support improving this. The project explored the extent of citizens’ data literacy through survey data and citizen workshops; developed training and support materials for schools, universities and third sector groups in order to enhance citizen’s data literacy and developed policy recommendations for stakeholders on enhancing citizen data literacy.
