ABOUt
In my current role as Associate Head of School for Health and Social Care (Apprenticeships), I provide leadership in implementing the school’s and college's strategic vision for apprenticeships. I maintain oversight of developing a sustainable and high-quality apprenticeship portfolio, ensuring alignment with both regional and national needs. I contribute actively to key decision-making at the school leadership team level, including business planning, people development, and financial management.
I qualified as a physiotherapist in 2001, specializing in the acute and long-term management of neurological conditions. My clinical work, primarily in private practice, continued until 2022. During this time, I gained valuable insights into the practical application of physiotherapy while honing my expertise in patient care across diverse neurological conditions.
In 2009, I transitioned into academia as a full-time lecturer at Sheffield Hallam University (SHU), where I have since led various initiatives in teaching, research, scholarship, and knowledge exchange. I have made significant contributions to strategic planning at both the departmental and college levels, playing an instrumental role in fostering high-quality provision across undergraduate, postgraduate, and apprenticeship programs. My leadership experience includes roles such as the lead for recruitment, placements, assessments, and the course leader for the BSc Physiotherapy apprenticeship.
In 2022, I assumed the role of AHP Apprenticeship Portfolio Lead, where I spearheaded the development of new apprenticeship programs and led the redesign of the curriculum across our offerings. I also ensured quality assurance through meticulous oversight, including preparation for Ofsted inspections. This experience has given me a strong foundation in curriculum development, quality management, and strategic alignment with regional and national demands. Through my work in leading and influencing high quality teaching, I was awarded Senior Fellowship with Advance HE.

I have significant experience in development and the validation of new apprenticeship standards within Health and Social Care at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. In my current role, I lead the development, re-validation, and implementation of innovative, bespoke apprenticeship programs while maintaining rigorous quality assurance standards.
In addition to my leadership responsibilities, I serve as an external examiner and assessor and external panel member for other universities. I am also an Education Consultant for the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy, where I continue to contribute to the advancement of physiotherapy education on a national level.
I completed my MSc in Advanced Professional Practice in 2018 and actively engage in research and knowledge exchange, including publications in professional journals.
