ABOUt

I am an Associate Head in Sheffield Business School and currently the Accreditation Lead for the School. I am a research active tourism academic with 17 years of teaching experience in HE. My research interests lie in tourism planning and development and destination marketing, and I publish in tourism governance, destination images, sustainable tourism, and accessible tourism.

I studied Tourism Management at undergraduate level and worked at a major tour operator in South Korea before coming to the UK and completing my master’s and doctoral degrees in Sheffield Business School. Since joining the Business School as a full-time lecturer in 2012, I have taught a range of tourism subjects at undergraduate and postgraduate levels as well as supervising doctoral students.

I regularly collaborate with international partners in my research and have previously participated in two European funded projects focusing on accessible food tourism, and South African universities’ employability development. I have carried out external roles as a programme validation panel member and an external examiner for tourism programmes in the UK. I was also an Executive Committee member of Association for Tourism in Higher Education (ATHE), the subject association for tourism in the UK, for 6 years until Jan 2026.

I have also held several academic management and leadership roles throughout my career, as a course leader and a subject group leader, and through my work in the University's Academic Strategy team. More recently as the Accreditation Lead for Sheffield Business School, I successfully led the School’s AACSB reaccreditation in 2025.
