ABOUt

Jude has been a Senior Lecturer in the School of Sport and Physical Activity since 2014.  Her specialist areas are within the Sport Development and Sport Business Management environments having had significant experience in those industries working for Local Authorities, National Governing Bodies of Sport, School Sport Partnerships and Education.

 

Jude’s specific areas of interest include ‘community sport’, ‘event management’, ‘club development’, ‘enterprise’ and ‘professional skills & practice’.  Jude worked extensively within the sport development industry prior to moving into academia having roles within Local Authorities, National Governing Bodies of Sport and School Sport Partnerships.

 

She has completed her MSc in Coaching and Mentoring within the Sheffield Hallam Business School and actively uses her skills within teaching and academic advising.  In addition Jude has significant experience of leading on the student experience and is a Recognised Senior Advisor for UK Advising & Tutoring Association and a Senior Fellow of Advance HE and Reviewer for the TALENT Professional Recognition Scheme. 

 

Upon completion of a Leisure and Sport Studies degree at Leeds Metropolitan University Jude began her graduate career working for the Lawn Tennis Association and then moved to Sheffield to work for Local Authority in Community Sport where she managed and delivered projects using sport and physical activity as a tool to engage local communities to achieve differing social agendas over a 5 year period.

 

She then moved to a School Partnership in Barnsley where she was Competition Manager which involved strategic planning and collaborative working with Primary & Secondary Schools, Colleges, National Governing Bodies of Sport, Clubs and Facilities.

 

Whilst at Hallam, Jude has brought with her this applied knowledge and developed partnerships with key partners and stakeholders to inform student learning within the classroom and extra-curricular.  She leads on employability for the subject group and develops opportunities for students including placement and voluntary experiences.
