I joined Sheffield Hallam University in 2012 as a lecturer in Psychology. I am a chartered member of the British Psychological Society and I am a registered Health Psychologist (Health and Care Professions Council.

I have always had an interest in the Psychology of Health and Illness and therefore after completing my undergraduate degree in Psychology in 2001 I undertook a Masters in Health Psychology at the University of Sussex. I spent the following five years gaining experience of working with a variety of client groups including older adults and people with learning disabilities. Three of these years were spent working within the NHS delivering brief Psychological Cognitive Behavioural Therapy-based interventions to people experiencing depression and/or anxiety.

My interest in the field of health and illness led me to join the University of Sheffield in 2007 to conduct a PhD Research Project investigating the Psychosocial impact of dental injuries in children and families. Whilst studying for my PhD I managed to combine my research activities with independent study towards the stage 2 qualification in Health Psychology. Since completing my PhD in January 2010 I have worked as a researcher for the University of Sheffield on a broad range of projects in the areas of dental anxiety, psychosocial impact of life stressors and health conditions and health service evaluation.
