ABOUt

Dr Harvey Anderson is a Senior Lecturer in Sport Coaching and PE with over 30 years’ experience in high-performance sport, education, and curriculum leadership. A Chartered High-Performance Coach and Senior Fellow of the HEA, his interests include coaching pedagogy, international sport education, and learning innovation. He is also a Visiting Professor and active in research, external examining, and global academic partnerships.

 

Dr Harvey Anderson is a Senior Lecturer in Sport Coaching and Physical Education with over 30 years of experience across high-performance sport, applied coaching, and higher education. A Chartered High-Performance Coach with CIMSPA and a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA), he combines practical expertise with academic leadership to deliver high-impact, student-centred learning experiences.

 

At Sheffield Hallam University, Harvey serves as Collaborative Course Leader for the BSc (Hons) Sport Coaching (Top-Up) programme, including international delivery through SHAPE College in Hong Kong. He teaches across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in areas including coaching pedagogy, functional anatomy, sport science, and strength and conditioning. He has also been recognised repeatedly with nominations for the SHU Inspirational Teacher Award.

 

Harvey plays a key role in internationalisation, having developed Erasmus+ exchange partnerships and global placement opportunities. His wider contributions to the sector include work as a Chartered Assessor with CIMSPA, a Visiting Professor at Mahidol University (Thailand), and a disciplinary panel member with Paddle UK. He is a highly experienced External Examiner and Panel Member, working with universities across the UK and internationally to support course validation, curriculum development, and academic quality assurance.

 

His professional affiliations include membership in BASES, UKSCA, AIESEP, and the ECB Coaches Association. His qualifications span sport science, coaching, finance, and academic practice, including a Doctorate in Sport Coaching and an ongoing MBA.

 

Harvey’s current interests include reflective practice, learning innovation, global sport education, and the development of resilient, high-performing learners and practitioners.
