I have joined Sheffield Hallam University in 2013 as a Lecturer in Materials Engineering, became a Senior Lecturer in 2016, Principal Lecturer in 2023 and currently I am Associate Head of School of Engineering and Built Environment. I am the Area Head of Mechanical Engineering and Accreditation Lead for Engineering and Physics courses. My main research expertise is the development of Non-Destructive Evaluation (NDE) methodologies for the assessment of advanced materials' behaviour.

I graduated with a MEng degree in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Ioannina, Greece, in 2008. I received my MSc in Chemistry and Materials Technology and my PhD in Materials Engineering from the University of Ioannina in 2013. Upon the completion of the PhD, I became a Postdoctoral research associate at the Texas A&M University, Texas (USA), working on Non-Destructive assessment of aerospace materials, shape memory alloys (SMAs). I have joined Sheffield Hallam University in 2013 as a Lecturer in Materials Engineering, became a Senior Lecturer in 2016, Principal Lecturer in 2023 and currently I am Associate Head of School of Engineering and Built Environment.

I am teaching in Materials Engineering and Mechanical Engineering courses. Specifically, I have been teaching “Materials Science”, “Fracture Mechanics” and “Non-Destructive Evaluation” to the next generation of materials engineers, mechanical engineers and packaging technologists. I am past Course Leader for the BEng and MEng Materials Engineering courses and currently the Area Head of Mechanical Engineering and Accreditation Lead for Engineering and Physics courses. I have successfully led various Accreditation Events working with many Professional, Statutory and Regulatory Bodies (PSRBs) such as IMEchE, IOM3, IET. 

I have published more than 60 papers in international journals and conference proceedings and delivered several conference presentations. I am continuously promoting research and innovation through invited conference talks and my editorial roles as Topic Editor and Guest Editor of several special issues in international peer reviewed journals. I am also reviewer of the most prestigious and high impact factor journals on my area of expertise.
