ABOUt

I am a Senior Lecturer and at Sheffield Hallam University also academic adviser on SCC Green City Partnership Board working for a "Zero Carbon Sheffield by 2030" I’m also on the committee of the "Environmental Hub" organisation, the South Yorkshire Climate Alliance (SCA).  My research and knowledge include; carbon footprint/reduction awareness, renewable Energy, sustainable Building design, Climate Change, Environmental and Water Management (capture, storage and flood mitigation). 

 

In addition I have a media presence as director of ""The ARC"" (Adaption and Resilience Committee) at SHU listed as a “Sustainability Expert and Lead Trainer in the SHU International (15 European and African Universities) delivering the Carbon Literacy Project SHU (https://www4.shu.ac.uk/mediacentre/john-grant)., regularly interviewed (as an expert) on numerous Radio stations; BBC Sheffield,  BBC NW and BBC Chelmsford and TV appearances; BBC Look North, ITV Calendar and GB News.

 

Specialist areas of interest:

  • Renewable energy and water scoping studies,
  • Water & Energy Consumption in buildings (i.e. Passivehaus, Energiesprong, EPC's & SBEM)
  • Resilience to Abrupt Climate Change with Eco-Housing & Domestic Food Production
  • The Adaption & Design of Autonomous Domestic Dwellings for a Changing Environment.
  • Non-technical limitations to renewable energy (RE) development, 
  • Energy surveys and analysis of buildings.
