I have a special interest in dual diagnosis; Learning Disabilities and Mental Health, particularly in Children and Adolescents. I am keen to promote and develop Autism and Learning Disability awareness and training for all future health and social care professionals, with a view to improve outcomes and safety for individuals with learning disabilities who access services.
I have a keen interest in equality and diversity, and am the current departmental champion for Athena SWAN. I am a former graduate from Sheffield Hallam University and returned to work here after gaining extensive experience as a Clinical Nurse within a Child and Adolescent Mental Health Learning Disability service.
I deliver teaching on the dual Learning Disability and Social Work course, one of only two such courses in England. I also work to develop innovative technology enhanced learning experiences for students, including on placement learning experiences, fully embracing the link lecturer role to work with placements to enhance and improve student experience. I hold dual registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) and the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
