ABOUt
I am responsible for some of the mathematics subject group's service teaching for students of engineering and physics. My academic interests are in the areas of dynamical systems theory and the pedagogical issues relating to the teaching of mathematics to students of science and engineering.
After graduating with a BSc in Applied Physics, I obtained my PhD from Northumbria University in 2008 for work on dynamical systems theory with applications in the areas of control and synchronised chaotic systems. I then trained as a teacher in the lifelong learning sector and have since been involved in FE/HE provision in public and private institutions, eventually joining Sheffield Hallam University's mathematics group in 2015. Through my teaching experience in engineering, physics and mathematics, I have developed an interest in the pedagogical issues surrounding mathematics as taught to students of science and engineering.
Outside of my professional life, I spend time on long-distance walks across the British fells, playing for my local badminton club in the Sheffield Badminton League and playing live shows as part of a heavy metal band.
