I spent 10 years as an operational Probation Officer in Sheffield, specialising in work with the 'Prolific and Priority Offending' team. I also worked with individuals on Drug Rehabilitation Requirements of Community Orders. I was lead Probation Officer for the 'Guns and Gangs' initiative in Sheffield. For the last 5 years in Probation I was a Practice Tutor Assessor, mentoring and assessing Probation Trainees on the vocational aspect of the Professional Qualification In Probation (PQiP).

I teach in a variety of fields including the Professional Qualification in Probation (PQiP), Policing Degree routes, and on UG criminology at level 5.

My research interests are diverse including; visual representation of the Probation Service 'Probation in Objects', Probation in the Pandemic, barriers to Probation as a career and the promotion of access to the Probation Service as a career more widely. I am currently working to establish outreach work regarding the Probation Service in local FE colleges and to HE establishments in England.
