ABOUt

I began working at Sheffield Hallam University in November 2017 as a Specialist Visiting Lecturer in the Public Health Nursing Team. In March 2019 I joined the University on a secondment from Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust where I was practicing as a Specialist Public Health Practitioner (Health Visitor) and joined the University full time from September 2019 as a Lecturer in Public Health nursing.

I am part of the Specialist Community Public Health Nursing team and the module leader for the Level 6 and Level 7 Family Centred Public Health Modules. I currently teach across the undergraduate and post graduate nursing programmes at levels 4, 5, 6 & 7 on numerous modules ranging from public health and community wellbeing to evidence based approaches to public health nursing. I have varied experiences from numerous local NHS Trusts which I am able to draw upon to support my teaching.

My interests are in Health Education and Fathers health and wellbeing in the context of the ‘Whole Family Approach’ in supporting children young people and families. Through undertaking an MSc in Healthcare Education, I regularly draw on the relevant theory and principles designed to enhance the transfer of knowledge to inform my educational approach.

In recognition of attainment against the UK Professional Standards Framework for teaching and learning support in higher education I have achieved the status of Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (Advance HE). I have also recently begun a role as Student Experience Lead in the Nursing and Midwifery department where I am working closely with a myriad of individuals from across the department and the student body with the focus of enhancing student experience in accordance with the University Strategy, with a commitment to 'Building a Great University by providing an outstanding environment in which to study, research and work'.

More recently I became BSc (Hons) Nursing (Adult) PART-TIME route leader where I work closely with the full time Nursing course leader and the Nursing level managers to improve student experiences on their journey through the University.
