I have done my M.Eng in Chemical Engineering from NUS Singapore, and PhD from IIT Delhi ( a part of research was conducted in University Lyon1 and INSA Lyon France). I joined the Department of Engineering and Mathematics, Sheffield Hallam University, as a Senior lecturer on 24th September 2019. My research areas include thermochemical processes, wastewater treatment, simulation & modeling and anaerobic digestion. I teach various modules in Chemical Engineering and Sustainable Engineering.
Dr. Mukesh Goel has 16 years of teaching and research experience as well as two years industrial experience. He has published 47 international journal papers, 26 conference papers, as well as four book chapters. Besides, he has written 9 technical reports for industries such as Hubert Enviro Care Systems, United Processors, India. He is a regular reviewer for very high impact factor journals, such as Journal of Hazardous Materials, Environmental Biotechnology, Biotechnology and Bioengineering, Journal of Env Manag. and other leading international journals. His paper in Water Research (Goel et al., 38(19):4247-61) is one of the highly cited paper on sonochemical engineering. He has guided 30 PG students, two PhD students, and various UG students. He is currently supervising five PhD students.
He has several years of expertise in waste management, effluent treatment, and waste to bioenergy. He has secured four grants from funding agencies in India and has several national and international collaborations. He has recently ventured into the thermochemical routes for biomass degradation and is deeply involved in modelling and simulation of the gasification/oxidation processes. He also does extensive research on anaerobic digestion and on other topics related to energy and decarbonisation. He is currently involved in 3 projects funded from RED England, IETF, UK, etc.
