My research interests are centred around helping people live healthier and happier lives, supporting people who are navigating life difficulties and using behavioural science to improve engagement in interventions and research. I am experienced in both quantitative and qualitative research methods and have experience in conducting research to develop and evaluate health and wellbeing interventions, including their effects, perceived acceptability and uptake. My research has also included projects on COVID-19 health behaviours, vaccine hesitancy, relationship improvement, smoking cessation and active travel, as well as other health-related behaviours such as alcohol use, smoking, physical activity and diet. 

I worked in primary care mental health services for several years before completing my Psychology PhD in 2020. I have been working at the Centre for Behavioural Science and Applied Psychology (CeBSAP) at Sheffield Hallam University since January 2021. I lead CeBSAP's behavioural science training that we deliver to corporate clients, including the Welsh Government and Sheffield City Council, and I also have experience of providing training on mental health, motivational interviewing, and research methods to people working in public health and for local authorities. 

I am the trial manager for two externally funded randomised controlled trials. The first is an evaluation of a therapy for interparental conflict compared to treatment as usual, funded by the Youth Endowment Fund. The second is an evaluation of a toolkit to promote engagement with parenting programmes, funded by NIHR. Both of these trials are multi-year, multi-site projects.
