He subsequently held Associate Lecturer positions at Sheffield Business School before being appointed to a full-time Lectureship in 2023.

In his current role, he teaches across a range of undergraduate and postgraduate modules in international business, including Doing Business in Emerging Markets, Economic Environment for International Business, International Strategic Management, International Strategy and Sustainability, and Multinational Enterprises: Navigating Global Challenges, and contributes to MBA programmes. In parallel to his teaching, Dr Boujnane maintains an active research agenda that examines the economic and financial factors shaping the performance of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in emerging markets, with a particular focus on sustainable business practices and financial resilience. His work is grounded in quantitative methodologies, and he has developed expertise in econometric modelling, panel analysis, and statistical techniques.

He is also an external research member of the African Innovation and Entrepreneurship (AfrIE) Research Hub, the IDEO research group, and the Centre for International Business Strategy and Decisions at Nottingham Business School, maintaining strong ties with the institution where his academic career began.
