Camila is a Senior Lecturer in Human Geography and Course Leader of BA / BSc Geography. She commenced at Sheffield Hallam University in 2003. Camila was awarded a Faculty Inspirational Teaching Award in 2014 and a University Inspirational Teaching Award in 2015. She also won the Sheffield Hallam Students’ Union Academic Staff of the Year Award in 2016. In 2023, Camila's book, "Outcast: How Jews Were Banished from the Anti-Racist Imagination", won the best book on contemporary antisemitism prize from the London Centre for the Study of Contemporary Antisemitism.
