ABOUt

I am a migrant academic broadly interested in the politics of power, resistance, and social change. My current research critically examines socio‑environmental conflicts arising from low‑carbon energy development and their implications for a just energy transition.

I joined SHU in 2023 after completing my PhD in Sociology at the University of Essex. I hold a BSc in International Relations and an MA in Political Science. Previously, I taught at the University of Essex, Royal Holloway, and SOAS University of London.

Before taking up a full‑time post in higher education, I worked as an international development practitioner for more than 15 years. I held several policy, leadership, and research roles in non‑governmental organisations, UN agencies, and EU technical assistance programmes. My work covered diverse areas, including community‑based nature conservation, refugee resilience, civil society capacity building, and women’s empowerment and gender equality.
